We arrived on Sunday, January 21st to this lovely place on the river. Our landlady Maureen has assembled a fantastic staff who can arrange almost anything for you.

Our cottage |
We have a very nice second bedroom which you can peek at through the kitchen door, if you’d like to take a jaunt over we’d be happy to see you. Our days here have been most relaxing. Both of us have been reading. I’ve been painting and working on an anticipation guide for Ethiopia. We’ve walked into town, bought a few groceries and walked the short distance to the Indian Ocean where we’ve enjoyed the Salinas Bar & Restaurant.
This morning Dennis is out learning how to catch prawn so that he has bait for fishing. I’m not sure what he’s going to do with the fish if he catches one but I’ll worry about that if the time comes.
What will I do if he catches a fish? |
First there are the prawns for bait…
And then comes the fish…
And the prize goes to…
And in a very few moments she was back in the water swimming quickly away from the fisherman! We finished the day with a delicious dinner at Girls on the Square where we got to meet Natalee and her partner Andrew. Natalee is our Elsewhere Lonely Planet travel agent who arranged this part of our extraordinary trip.

This restaurant specializes in South African game and so I must confess I tried kudu which was delicious. So the animal is beautiful and tasty. We ended the evening listening to the many stories of Andrew and Natalee who have been in the travel industry for most of their adult lives. They met in the bush where they managed park lodges. Now there’s a book in there somewhere.
